In the far north of Togo lies the country’s poorest region, an area where rates of poverty and malnutrition are double those of other areas of the nation. Families often struggle to access clean water, education, or reliable medical care. For countless men, women, and children, the Hospital of Hope is the only place they can find life-saving treatment. Amid these challenges, the Hospital of Hope stands as a beacon of compassion, quality medical care, and the message of Jesus. Surrounding the hospital is a family of complementary ministries including Hope Radio, Bon Berger Christian School, Savannah Bible Institute, and several ministries providing clean water and other community and ministry outreaches.

Ministry Focus:

The Foundations Team will serve alongside a hospital and missionary community — bringing practical care, biblical encouragement, and hands-on support. Because of the setting, the majority of this 10-person team will be made up of medical professionals. We’re prayerfully looking for individuals with skills such as:

  • Surgeons: general, Urology, Ortho, Plastics, etc
  • Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, ER Nurses, Nurses
  • Doctors: Family, Pediatricians, Internal Medicine, Med/Peds, ER
  • Dentist, OT, PT
Additional opportunities to serve in meaningful ways, including:
  • Investing in missionary kids by helping during team meetings or assisting in their school
  • Offering deep biblical teaching, training, and encouragement to Togolese hospital chaplains
  • Supporting facility needs through handyman skills and maintenance projects
  • Assisting with administrative systems - bookkeeping, data entry, or QuickBooks

No matter your role, everyone on the team will have opportunities to serve beyond their primary skill set. This is more than a trip—it’s a chance to use what God has already placed in your hands to help others know Jesus and make Him known.

Trip Schedule:

There will be an orientation on the first day the team arrives. While every day can look different, you can expect to be assigned a role at the start (on-site training provided).  Flexibility is best and most important skill & characteristic we will bring to this serving opportunity.  In the evenings the team will debrief together and share stories from their day.

Team Meetings:

The goal is to send teams that are a blessing to our partners, which means sending a team that is fully prepared when they reach their destination. To ensure the team is ready, there are a minimum of 3 Team Meetings. Meetings are designed to help each participant grow as a disciple of Jesus, be prepared for time on the field, get to know your teammates, understand culture & the ministry, and understand your role in fulfilling the Great Commission even after the trip is over.

Partnership Development / Support Raising:

All trip participants are encouraged to raise support for their trip (not required). It is an opportunity to see how God provides, share with others about the ministry, and talk about how God is moving you to serve cross-culturally. The first team meeting will have support-raising training.  Support-raising resources will also be available to help walk you through the process.

Logistics:

The team will fly together to Lome and then be driven by van to the hospital guesthouse (several hours north). The team will stay in assigned rooms with 1-2 roommates and a bathroom. Meals will be provided by the guesthouse kitchen.  You can expect to walk a lot.

Financial Information:

  • The cost of the trip includes airline tickets, in-country transportation, trip insurance, supplies, lodging, and meals for the duration of the trip. The only thing it doesn't include is souvenirs.
  • IRS Guidelines - For contributions to be tax deductible, the church must have ultimate control/discretion as to how the money is spent. This means that any financial gift received for a trip is non-refundable.
  • Any trip participant who has to drop out of the trip for any reason is required to cover all trip expenses incurred by the church on their behalf.
